Helen Haunch

Principal

Helen Haunch is from Leeds but has worked almost all of her teaching career in Bradford! After a 17 year marketing career at BT and O2, she applied for redundancy. At first she couldn’t get a job in a school through lack of experience, so worked in Marks and Spencer and then bought a café!

Eventually, through perseverance and door-knocking, she got a job as a transition assistant in a school – taking year 6 children on the journey to secondary school. During this time, she started a Certificate in Education at Leeds University. Despite moving into a new role as a Learning Mentor in a secondary school, she continued her studies and was sponsored by Education Leeds to complete a degree in Education. And so began the career as a primary school teacher!

Helen has two children of her own, a stepdaughter and 3 grandchildren. She enjoys travel and has been around a lot of the Far East and Europe. She is a keen reader, loves spending time with her family and likes to have a busy social life. She is passionate about children’s education and absolutely loves her job.

When the opportunity arose to work at Dixons Marchbank, Helen was excited about taking the step into school leadership and has since become the Principal of the school. She thoroughly enjoys working with her colleagues, the pupils, the parents and the wider community and feels that by working together we can take the school on to even greater things.
